Federal Immigration Program for Self Employed Business Persons:
The immigration regulations define who is considered a business person under this program. The program deals with business persons of relevant experience combined with the intent and ability to establish a business in Canada and raise a meaningful contribution to a predefined business sector.
Such experience is defined in the regulations as “Relevant Experience” which is distinguished from business experience as defined elsewhere in the regulations. The difference focuses on a relevant experience in the field of cultural activity, athletics or the acquisition and operation of an agricultural operation.
Internal operational instructions within the immigration authorities were established to cope with the application of the aforementioned definition into specific professional fields. However, these fields are enumerated as fields in which the candidates are required to form a business and not hold an employee position.
